Our story
At LGS Projects, our strapline reads “Innovation Led, Customer Focused, Solution Driven”, and that just about sums up our attitude.
Utilising the very best British made, precision engineered materials, with a laser focus on service and quality, and a ‘can-do’ attitude to engineering challenges, we are at the forefront of sustainable excellence in construction.
We predominantly work direct for the end user or developer, designing and constructing highly efficient steel framed buildings across the UK.
The themes that run throughout are quality and integrity. We offer value for money without cutting corners, and we are tenacious in pursuit of solutions to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Most of our buildings are either light industrial units, or workshops, storage units and factories. However, we have also constructed restaurants, breweries, a golf pro-shop, hybrid units, offices, car valeting buildings, gatehouses, clubhouses, showrooms, retail units, a swimming pool, and even a house!
We do not supply off the shelf ‘kit’ buildings. Every LGS Projects building is bespoke, and our system offers an extremely cost-effective alternative to traditional construction methods.
Our history
LGS Projects Ltd was started in 2017 by Brian and Jacquie Garvey. Since then, the company has experienced steady, controlled growth to the present day.
Mark Dickinson joined the team in 2019, with Alison Dickinson, Toni Atkinson and Christa Kuhnel subsequently joining to create the fantastic team we now have.
Brian, who spent most of his career in senior roles within the Kingspan Group, retired in 2023, but still takes an active interest in the business, and is always on hand to offer help and advice.
The business is currently run by a small, highly skilled team, led by Jacquie Garvey and Mark Dickinson.
Meet the team
Jacquie Garvey
Director
Jacquie’s background is as a clinical psychologist working in both clinical settings within the NHS and in business settings with EAP providers (Employee Assistance Programs). In 2017 she decided to join Brian in founding LGS where her main responsibilities are financial and commercial management, corporate compliance, and contractual matters.
Mark Dickinson
Director
Mark has a wealth of experience based on nearly 40 years in the construction industry, where he has been instrumental at board level in the growth of several companies. His main responsibilities at LGS are an overview of operations, and a hands-on role in sales and marketing. He is the main contact for new customers. Outside of work, he is married to Alison, with three children and two grandchildren. His other passion is motorsport, and he is a keen amateur rally driver.
Toni Atkinson
Operations Manager
Toni joined the team in 2022 bringing valued transferrable skills from over a decade of management in the water and electronics industry. Toni is responsible for all operational aspects of our projects, both in the office and on-site, even when it’s raining! She takes pride in working with our contractors and designers, building high quality buildings all over the UK. Toni always strives to use the best quality material, at the best prices for our clients. Toni is kept busy with this role and her two boys at home. Toni aims to have time for a hobby, one day.
Christa Kuhnel
Sales and Marketing
Christa works with Mark in supporting customer requests and business development. Christa comes from a technical background having trained as an engineer and then having had a global research and development role for Unilever. She worked for Unilever for 27 years where her final role was managing European Quality before leaving to become Operations Director for a digital print company. She has significant experience in project management and working with external agencies and clients.
Alison Dickinson
Admin Support
Alison has held a variety of admin and management roles in many sectors. Her organisational skills and common-sense approach make her a vital part of the company. She provides admin support to the whole team. Outside of work, she is a keen gardener, baker, seamstress and furniture restorer.
Bruno, Izzy & Skye
Good boys and girls
Meet the office dogs Bruno (top), Izzy and Skye (bottom). They are very good boys and girls who are full of excitement, happiness and mischief. Main duties include overseeing all belly rubs and dog treat testing (it’s hard work, but somebody has to do it).
On-site
We work with the very best teams of steel erectors and cladders around the UK. All are led by site supervisors with decades of experience of erecting steel framed buildings.
Professional colleagues
We work with a network of excellent professionals to support us. These include architects and designers, structural and civil engineers, planning consultants, and detail design engineers.
