Heathrow Warehouse Extension
Our client is a well established and expanding, high end fresh food distributor, with premises ideally located virtually adjacent to Heathrow Airport.
They had outgrown their current premises, and there was very little space to expand into. As the proximity of Heathrow is vital to their business, it was not practical to move to a larger site further away.
They approached LGS and we designed a 60m x 10m x 7.4m high to eaves extension to the rear of the current warehouse and offices.
Our cold rolled steel frame was ideal, as the ground was poor, requiring remediation works, which would have been far more expensive with structural steel.
Access was tight, as was space for materials to be stored, and the business had to continue to operate unhindered 24hrs a day during the construction of the extension. Again, our cold rolled system was the perfect solution, with no cranes or heavy plant required, and no welding, wet trades or noise on site.
The whole building was constructed in 6 weeks and has proved invaluable additional warehousing space.
The client is delighted and has instructed LGS to start work on the next phase of expansion at the front of the site.
