Warehouse Extension on The Wirral

Our client is a well-known pet accessory business, based in The Wirral on Merseyside.

Established over 30 years ago, their continued growth meant they needed more warehouse space at their existing premises.

There were several challenges. Firstly, the site was extremely tight, for access and construction. Secondly, the proposed extension had to sit against their existing premises in a slightly unusual ‘staggered’ off centre way. Thirdly, the existing building had a brick plinth, with the cladding sat outside it, making it even more difficult to marry the two together. Lastly, the colour of the trims, flashings etc was non-standard, and the exact Ral colour unknown.

Nevertheless, the brief was to create a seamless extension.

The site constraints made the project ideal for our cold rolled frame system, with no cranes or heavy plant involved.

We designed the foundation, which required lass concrete than a traditional, structural steel frame.

Our ops manager Toni went to great lengths to match the colours exactly, and the extension, plus a small loading canopy were successfully completed.

The end result is a lovely building, matching seamlessly into the existing, and allowing the business to expand without the upheaval of moving premises.
